Is it an expensive alternative?

Not necessarily, buying and selling stocks and shares incur commission charges from £9.95 per trade for online trades, but these charges do not apply when investing in funds. It is important to note that fund purchases don't incur commission but may have a Fund Manager charge.

How can I apply?

You need to be a UK resident and have a National Insurance number to be eligible to open an ISA.

You can click on the link below and follow the instructions to complete an application which should take about 10 to 15 minutes. Please note that you will be asked to fund your ISA with £100 so the account can be opened.

You can transfer your Cash ISA into your new Stocks & Shares ISA, but it is important to note that under HMRC regulations, a Stocks & Shares ISA cannot be transferred back into a Cash ISA.

The value of your investments can go down as well as up. You may not get back all the funds you invest.
